of you mind when doing any carving is practice safe carving habits. Never
carve without being conscious of the danger of cutting yourself. This is
not a hobby for children under the age of fifteen who can't respect tools
of the trade.

- Use very sharp tools, they require less effort and give more control
- Never carve with one hand in front of the carving tool, both should be
behind
- Never carve in your lap, always use a carving arm or vice
- Avoid carving hard woods, selecting the proper wood is important
- Keep carving bench and area clean of chips and other tools
- Proper lighting is important
- Never carve if you are tired or on medication
- Never carve angry
- Always keep your tools and supplies out of the reach of children and
locked up
